Philippine Airlines has announced the resumption of its services to India with the launch of non-stop flights from New Delhi to Manila, its hub. The services on the route will operate four-times-a-week, with effect from April 2019, subject to regulatory approval.

According to a press release issued by the airline, "The long-heralded return of PAL to the Indian market will provide a welcome boost to the tourism industries of both the Philippines and India. The airline previously flew the Manila –Delhi route from 2011 to 2013, with most flights making costly stopovers in Bangkok due to the limited range of the Airbus A320 aircraft then in use. PAL also served Kolkata (Calcutta) as a key stopover point on the flag carrier’s multi-stop Manila-Europe services in the 1950s."

A brand-new Airbus A321neo aircraft with full-flat business class seats, generous legroom and the latest in entertainment systems and Wi-Fi connectivity will operate on the route.

Commenting on the resumption of services, Bautista, President of Philippine Airlines, said, "India is the air travel growth market of the future and a new economic power, so our link to Delhi improves the Philippines’ connectivity with the global economy. We are enthusiastic about our new Delhi route because, for the first time, we have the right-sized aircraft for the Indian market. Our Airbus A321neo’s long-range capability makes direct non-stop flights possible, and this new plane features 168 seats configured specially for long-haul travel, making the 6 hour and 50 minutes Manila-Delhi flight more comfortable and pleasant."

The airline has also announced its plans to ramp up operations in the Asian region by launching new routes to Hanoi (Vietnam) and Phnom Penh (Cambodia) from its Manila hub, starting this summer season.

The flight services to Phnom Penh marks the first direct air link between the Philippines and the capital of Cambodia. The flights to Hanoi will be the airline's second flight route connecting Manila and Vietnam. For Hanoi and Phnom Penh, PAL will utilize a 156-seater Airbus A320 and a 199-seater Airbus A321 Classic.

The Hilton London Bankside Hotel has announced the opening of the world's first Vegan Suite. Designed in collaboration with the Vegan Society, the new suite uses vegan-friendly materials and design elements throughout the suite.

All elements including the carpets and pillows, the mini-bar goodies, and even the items on the hotel's housekeeping trolleys are eco-friendly products. The mini bar will be filled with a variety of locally-sourced, vegan treats including Graze protein powder and Naked fruit and nut snacks.

The suites will also feature furnishings and keycards made with Piñatex, a natural leather made from the cellulose fibres of pineapple leaves. Pillows will include anti-bacterial, non-allergenic and environmentally sourced material to replace feather down. For example, the Buckwheat pillow is made with 100% organic buckwheat hulls and the Kapok Pillow is made from natural kapok.

Guests will use PRIJA ginseng, earthly hotel toiletries such as shampoo and conditioner and essentials such as a shower cap, vanity and nail kit, all made with recycled packaging.

Commenting on the launch, General Manager James B. Clarke said, "Veganism is not just a dining trend, it has become a lifestyle choice for many and in turn, we want to be the first hotel to be able to offer those who follow the plant-based lifestyle, the chance to fully immerse themselves within it from the moment they walk into the hotel."

A spokesperson from The Vegan Society, Danielle Saunders added, "Having been involved with the planning of Hilton London Bankside's Vegan Suite since the early stages in 2018, we're thrilled to see the concept come to life."

"The hotel has carefully selected different plant-based features with exceptional attention to detail and we're pleased to see that those who live the vegan lifestyle are now able to expand their plant-based options with the opportunity to enjoy vegan travel. We are excited to be able direct our followers and supporters to a hotel which incorporates the whole lifestyle experience from checking in, to sleeping in plant-based linen and furniture," Saunders continued.
